How To Watch Long Anime Such as Naruto

First time watching an anime, it’s hard to understand how can someone watch 700 episode series like Naruto.

A friend of mine who has never seen any anime ever decided to try one for the first time and did so due to a particular fight scene that I had once shown him of NARUTO.

The scene where Rock Lee takes off the weight to catch up to Gaara is one of the best scenes of the series.

Being a newbie in the anime scene he got confused as for how to watch a show that has 710 episodes in total and if he began in what order should he watch.

So keeping all that in my mind I decided to write up this post to guide you all on, how to smartly watch longer anime series without wasting too much of your time.

Most of the anime out there are based on their counterpart Manga (Japanese Comic) of the same name that is published weekly or monthly.

To better understand let take Naruto example, Naruto is a manga that was created by Masashi Kishimoto and published in Weekly Shonen Jump From 21 September 1999 to 10 November 2014.

Meanwhile, the anime which is based on the manga went on air on October 3, 2002, just 2 years after the Naruto manga first publication.

As a single episode of anime covered nearly 2 or more content of the manga. The anime started to catch up to the manga at a very fast pace.

To counteract that the production company of the anime would release a few episodes that were of original content and had no connection to the manga in any way, these episodes are called Fillers.

Naruto has a total of 310 filler episodes out of the total of 710, which is nearly 43 % of the series.

Filler content can be found in every such long anime, which can be easily avoided to complete a show in less time.

Naruto Filler List : –

  • Naruto – 26, 53, 57, 97, 99, 101-106, 136-220.
  • Naruto Shippuden – 6-7, 11, 16, 19, 24-25, 28, 45, 49, 57-71, 90-112, 144-151, 170-171, 176-196, 223-242, 257-260, 271, 279-281, 284-295, 303-320, 347-361, 385-386, 389- 390, 394-413, 416, 422-423, 427-450, 464-468, 480-483.

So the First Point to enjoy and complete the series in less time to avoid the above-mentioned filler.

The second point, you can remember is that you can always find more content of your favorite anime if you look for the manga that it’s based on, that would either quench your thirst for that anime or make waiting for the next season unbearable Eg. One-Punch Man.

The third point is to always skip opening and ending sequence of the episodes, which would cut your watch time by some minutes helping you cover more episode per sitting.
