I always love getting my hands on a completed manga, as what I hate the most about being a manga fan is “the wait “, after catching up to the latest chapter of my favorite manga we all have to wait for the next week to get our next dose.

That’s why i love a completed manga that I could read from start to end without the hassle of waiting for a new chapter every week and boy it’s a thrill to read an amazing manga from the inception of its characters to their conclusion.

11 – Bakuman

A manga about how manga is made and about how much works goes into it from the inception of the story to the time it gets into your hands.

Moritak Mashiro was a talented artist from his childhood, who at first always dreamed about becoming a mangaka, but had to leave it aside after his mangaka uncle passed away due to overwork.

Akito Takagi is Mashiro’s classmate who after finding his art in his notebook asks him to join him, as they both could create manga as a team, which Mashiro declines at first.

Mashiro agrees to the proposal after a weird situation, where he made a promise to his crush while talking to her for the first time that they would get married when his manga becomes an anime and she will voice the lead actress role in it.


10 – Rurouni Kenshin

Rurouni Kenshin is a little older manga but has an amazing and evergreen storyline, that I got to read from the first chapter to the last chapter in a single go.

The story takes place in the Meiji Era, Himura Kenshin was a wandering samurai who offered protection and help for those in need as atonement for his deeds during the waring period.

On arriving in Tokyo, he meets a young woman named Kamiya Kaoru, who was in the middle of a fight with a fake samurai.

Kenshin ends up helping her by defeating the fake samurai and as a gift for saving her, Kaoru offers him a place to stay in her Dojo, which he accepts later on.


9 – 20th century boys

This Completed manga follows a storyline that I consider a little mind-bending and the reason for my stand is something you would find at the end of this manga.

The story starts from 1969, Kenji, Otcho, Yoshitsune, and Maruo are young boys who had created a hideout that they called their “Secret Base”, where they would share their manga, Adult magazine and listen to the radio sometimes.

They are later joined by their friends’ donkey (nickname) and Yukiji, to celebrate their creation Otcho comes up with a symbol that would represent their friendship.

In late 1990, Kenji finds out that donkey has committed suicide due to a large cult run by a man referred to as “Friend”, on an investigation he finds out that the cult had many ties with their childhood, one of which was their old symbol of friendship.

If you found this one interesting also try out Monster, which is created by the same mangaka.


8 – Claymore

Set in a medieval island there is an organization whose sole purpose is to kill Yoma, Shapeshifting monsters who can take human form also that feeds on humans.

This organization creates hybrids of human and Yoma race by experiments, as only females can survive this process these warriors only consist of girls.

They are provided with an armored uniform and a claymore sword due to which peoples mostly refer to them as “Claymore” or “Silver Eyed Witches” as their eyes turn silver due to the experiment.


7 – Cross game

If you ever want to read manga that is a combination of a slice of life and sports that you should pick up Mitsuru Adachi manga’s first such as Cross Game, H2, Katsu and many more.

Cross Game is about Ko Kitamura and four sisters who live in his neighborhood Ichiyo, Wakaba, Aoba, and Momiji.

Wakaba and ko were born on the same day and also in the same hospital, due to which they were very close and Wakaba treated ko as her boyfriend though never said out loud. Their relationship always made Aoba; Wakaba’s one-year younger sister jealous of Ko.

All of their life changes in a single day, when Wakaba who during her camping trip dies while saving someone from drowning.


6 – Tokyo ghoul

This manga is all about Ghouls, beings that need to feed on human flesh to survive and are considered as humans’ true enemy, and as the name the suggest it is set in Tokyo.

Ghouls look just like normal humans, which help them hide among humans as they Suppressing their lust for human flesh due to the fear of CCG (organization built just to exterminate them).

The story follows a college student Ken Kaneki who had an accident when he was on a date with a girl named Rize Kamishiro, who turns out to be a ghoul.

He survives the accident only because of the surgery that transferred the dead ghoul organs to replace his, which ends up turning him into a Half Ghoul who now must consume human flesh to survive.


5 – Bleach

If you have ever been a fan of shounen manga you would have heard of bleach, considered as one of the popular manga all around the world.

Ichigo Kurosaki is a high schooler who has the power to see supernatural beings such as souls and soul reapers (who ushers souls to the world of the dead).

Rukia is a soul reaper who gets injured while protecting Ichigo from a hollow (a monstrous lost soul that can attack both ghosts and humans), to save them both she transfers her power to Ichigo who then defeats the hollow.

Rukia who now is trapped in the human body puts her soul reapers duties on Ichigo and guides him as he lives his life as a highs school student.


4 – Gantz

This lesser-known manga is one of the best manga I did get to complete in one go and I would suggest it for you if you like a manga that has heavy violence and a little sexual content.

Gantz is about two high school students Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato who both die in a train accident trying to save a man who had fallen over.

After their death, they are transferred into a room that is empty except many other deceased people like them and a large black sphere known as “Gantz”. 

Gantz opens up and provides suits and weapons for everyone in the room and start transferring them to a game in which they are forced to hunt down and kill aliens with powerful futuristic weapons.


3 – Death note

This Psychological manga is a brilliant example that you don’t need long manga with many numbers of volumes to give a reader an experience they would never forget.

The story follows a brilliant and bored high school student Light Yagami who finds a mysterious black notebook “Death Note”, that has the power to kill anyone as long as the person writing in the book remembers the face of the target and write their name in it.

After testing the notebook and knowing the rules about how it exactly works and also being a little terrified with the book’s god-like power, Light decided to use the book to kill criminals all around the world to create a utopia.


2 – Naruto

Naruto is one of the most successful and popular Shounen manga in the list, if you like series with an amazing story that starts small and goes bigger and bigger, then this manga that ran for nearly 15 years is for you.

Naruto Uzumaki is a boy who had a monster sealed inside him when he was born, the monster was called Nine tails who had attacked his village on the day he was born.

As many villagers and even his parents had died in the attack, most people in his village ignored or stayed away from Naruto as they saw him as the monster rather than a kid.

Naruto who always pranked the villager just to get some attention had a dream that one day he would become Hokage of his village and earn the respect of the villager that saw him as the monster that was inside him.   


1 – Fullmetal Alchemist

You will always spot this Shounen manga on top many such lists only reason it is so because it’s that good a manga.

Alphonse Elric and Edward Elric are two alchemist brothers who committed one of the greatest sins an alchemist one can do and that is human transmutation.

They without understanding the consequence of their actions attempted human transmutation to bring back their mother who had died due to the plague, which failed miserably.

Edward loses his left leg and Alphonse his body and soul everything due to the law of equivalent exchange of alchemy, Edward sacrifices his right arm to bind his brother soul on a suit of armor with a blood seal.
